People experience all sorts of unpleasant, and oftentimes unexpected health conditions that bring on other undesirable effects. Bad breath is one such unfavorable outcome of any of a range of possible causes.

The number one cause is bacteria in the mouth, which may be aggravated by certain foods consumed, not to mention certain internal body disorders, unhealthy lifestyle habits like smoking & alcohol intake, and the use of medications.

Theres a way to beat the bacteria that causes bad breath, though, and it starts with proper dental hygiene and oral care. The most common reason why people, young and old alike, develop bad breath is because of slothful habits in brushing the teeth. Unsupervised kids who do not properly brush their teeth or do not brush long enough, love sugary foods, and lack calcium and vitamins which predispose them to caries, stand to have bad breath.

Further, the majority of busy adults keeping round-the-clock commitments are also those who often do not have time to brush their teeth. They do not realize that the food left in the mouth may ends up in the crevices between the teeth, rot and serve as breeding ground for bacteria. This produces bad breath. There are plenty of remedies to take care of bad breath. To eliminate bad breath, both kids and grown-ups may start by cleaning the teeth and filling cavities.

Before trying remedies outside your usual dental hygiene arsenal, though, try to have a thorough medical check-up because the smelly breath you may be experiencing just may be a sign of a potentially more serious physical condition requiring medical attention. The medical findings will also help you zero in on the right bad breath remedies.

Dental specialists may be able to pin point exactly what is causing bad breath. In some cases bad breath can be caused by Dry Mouth Syndrome. When your mouth is dry your saliva is not doing its job cleaning out bacteria. There are a number of different ways that you can improve your symptoms. The first is to ensure you are drinking eight glasses of water each day and chewing a sugar-free gum may help as well. Rinsing out your mouth with water after meals and snacks will greatly reduce any residue that has been left behind, reducing your risk of bad breath.

Stay away or decrease the amount of alcohol consumed. It can dehydrate you and bring on bad breath and other ailments. Limit the amount of coffee or tea that you drink as well because they can also cause bad breath.

Bad breath, in other instances, may be caused not just by the notorious garlic and onions, or other foods with sulfuric leftover you keep eating, but from certain medications you are using. Bad breath may be indirectly caused by allergy and cold tablets or anti-anxiety medications. To complement your bad breath remedies, jot down the medications you regularly take; some of them may be playing a big role in the mouth odors you emit.
